Patrick Boggon BA Hons, Dip M

Patrick began his fundraising career with Andrew de Mille Fundraising Consultants in 1991, working with the Beaconsfield Abbeyfield Society to raise £2 million for a capital development and building on his practical experience with fundraising training through Indiana University’s Center of Philanthropy. Early charity fundraising work included a £500,000 appeal to establish the John Bunyan Museum in Bedford, and a £3 million development for the YMCA in Basingstoke.

After a period at Brathay Hall Trust in the Lake District as Head of Development, Patrick re-joined Andrew de Mille in 1998 to establish and run a Northern Office to serve Scotland and the north of England. In doing so he capitalised on his main strengths; the successful running of major capital campaigns, and the formation of networks of influential people who will throw their weight behind a project.

Establishing Tarnside Consulting has been a natural progression for Patrick, though the links with Andrew de Mille Fundraising Consultants remain strong. Tarnside is now a professional member of the Association of Fundraising Consultants (AFC) and Patrick was recently voted onto the AFC Board. He was also in the UK's first group of senior professional fundraisers to qualify as a Certified Fund Raising Executive.

At the same time as working with clients to run effective appeals, Patrick develops the abilities of their fundraising teams through training and coaching, helping them become self-sustaining and ensuring lasting benefit from Tarnside's contribution. Patrick also acts as a trainer for open courses provided by the Directory of Social Change and the Institute of Fundraising.

Prior to fundraising Patrick spent six years in industry, using his Business Studies degree and Diploma in Marketing in a commercial career which covered sales and project management. He spends as much of his spare time as possible with his young family, as well as indulging his passions for cooking, cycling, running and walking his two dogs.
